EIGHT WEEK PROGRAMME
Large US organisations and corporations, such as AOL, Google and General Mills, are already reaping the benefits of offering their staff the traditional 8 week Mindfulness programmes, such as MBSR (Mindfulness based Stress Reduction) or MBCT (Mindfulness Cognitive Behaviour Therapy).
These courses are a life changing experience. They are subtle and offer a deep, inspiring adventure into oneself. They are not just about stress-busting or dealing with anxiety and depression but offer you an opportunity to change your mindset and approach to life.
As result, participants report enhanced performance, better relationships in and out of work, improved health and, overall, greater resilience in times of immense and complex change.
Our traditional 8 week MBCT (Mindfulness Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) programme has been developed and pioneered by Oxford University’s Mindfulness Centre and in the UK is recommended by NICE. Its programme has been well researched and covers a mixture of meditation, body movement exercises and out-of-session weekly exercises to encourage and develop a Mindful approach to life.
We will come into your workplace to run a specific programme for your staff. Or, we also offer group courses for individuals in the London or Oxford area.
The programme involves 8 weekly sessions which we can run either before, during or immediately after work, for two hours. The 8 week programme also traditionally features a silent/quiet day in Mindful ‘retreat’ which usually takes place at the same venue the Saturday between week 6 and 7.
Any workplace venue will need to be big enough for the number of staff taking part to be able to lie out on the floor for some of the bodywork mindful material, especially in the first four weeks.
At Mindfulness Leadership we will provide all relevant material to support the course, including the 8 week course manual and the weekly guided meditations. Where suitable during the 8 weeks the Mindful material will be related to both the personal and office life.
Mindfulness certainly brings you back in touch with your life and many of your well-learned behavioural patterns, both at work and in your personal life. Asa result, it can bring up well defended and protected personal issues for participants which we acknowledge and help them work with. All of our team are professional clinical psychotherapists with a background in the corporate world who are cognisant of these issues and can guide and support where need be during the 8 weeks.
Mindfulness means the awareness that emerges when we learn to pay attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to things as they are.
